Located approximately 97 km (59 mi)from Turin, and very near to the bobsleigh, luge and skeleton runs, Cesana San Sicario is the venue for the 2006 Winter Olympics biathlon events. The shooting ranges and cross-country tracks comprise a total area of 347,201 sq. m (415,200 sq. yd). This grueling sport requires steady hands and great endurance.

The 2006 Winter Olympic events of skeleton, bobsleigh and luge will be held at the venue Cesana Pariol in the town of Cesana Torinese, which is approximately 90 km (56 mi) from Turin. The facilities have been designed with extensive safety features, and will remain in operation once the Games are finished. There will be 6 permanent starts, the most difficult with a 114 m (374 ft) gradient and 19 curves.
